The translation of Allah Ke Bande is dedicated to maverick Indian singer Kailash Kher who was born on this day in 1973 and has established himself as one of the most dynamic performers of the current generation of Bollywood singers. It was the introduction of Kher for mainstream Bollywood music lovers. This song written by talented singer-composer-lyricist Vishal Dadlani, is saturated with spiritual metaphors and a message to never-say-die in the face of adversities. It became a rage in 2003-2004 period, with all radio channels playing it endlessly for months, catapulting Kher to well-deserved stardom after years of struggle.

Thirteen years later, Kher is going strong, establishing himself not only as a sought-after playback artist, but as an independent performer of Sufi-style popular music. His band with Mumbai-based musician brothers, Paresh Kamath and Naresh Kamath called Kailasa has released a string of successful albums including Kailasa, Jhoomo Re and Chandan Mein. Kailasa is one of my favorite albums and all the songs can be heard here and any translation for the lyrics requests can be put through comments here or the Facebook or Twitter page of bollywoodtarjuma.

With his raw, fierce and soulful voice he has won many awards and accolades for songs rendered in eight different Indian languages. With over a thousand concert performances under his belt in less than eleven years, it’s enough to say that his voice will inspire generations. Bollywoodtarjuma salutes this great artist on his birthday today and wishes that his world is filled with eternal music of his favorite deity, Lord Shiva.

Original Lyrics – Allah Ke Bande

Toota toota ek parinda aise toota
Ke phir jud naa paaya
Loota loota kisne usko aise loota
Ke phir ud naa paaya
Girta hua woh asma se
Aakar gira zameen par
Khwabon mein phir bhi badal hi the
Woh kehta raha magar
Ke allah ke bande hasde allah ke bande
Allah ke bande hasde jo bhi ho kal phir aayega
Allah ke bande hasde allah ke bande
Allah ke bande hasde jo bhi ho kal phir aayega

Kho ke aapne par hi to usne tha ud naa sikha
Gham ko aapne saath mein lele dard bhi tere kaam aayega
Allah ke bande hasde allah ke bande
Allah ke bande hasde jo bhi ho kal phir aayega

Tukde tukde ho gaya tha har sapna jab woh toota
Bikhre tukdon mein allah ki marzi ka manzar paayega
Allah ke bande hasde allah ke bande
Allah ke bande hasde jo bhi ho kal phir aayega

Translation of Allah Ke Bande by bollywoodtarjuma

So broken was a bird,
it couldn’t be cured.
So robbed was its spirit,
it forgot it soared.
Tumbling from the open skies,
dream-clouds living in its eyes,
it fell on earth, hot and dry,
still letting out a loud cry…

Smile now God’s own child,
laugh it off with all your might,
for whatever happens,
a tomorrow will follow the dark night.

Only when infant-feathers learnt to defy,
the bird grew fearless and started to fly.
So keep the pain under your wings,
the hidden pathos will help you sing..

Smile now God’s own child,
laugh it off with all your might,
for whatever happens,
a tomorrow will follow the dark night.

Crushed with each shattered dream,
repeatedly it let out a loud scream.
But in each broken piece of desire,
it heard Maker’s own choir..

Smile now God’s own child,
laugh it off with all your might,
for whatever happens,
a tomorrow will follow the dark night.
